SHERPA JULIET now lists funding groups

With an increasing number of funding agencies working together to provide open access to their research, details of these groups have now been added to JULIET.

These groups will now be searchable in their own right, and will provide a list of the participating agencies. Each agency will continue to have its own policy entry, so users can search for the group and then select their specific agency. Or they can search for the agencies by name if known.

For example here is the REF group of funders [http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/juliet/index.php?fPersistentID=1060]

New groups will be added as and when they are needed.  We currently have lists for:

  • REF
  • Research Councils UK
  •  Charity Open Access Fund
  • Europe PubMed Central Funders

The CRC at #Digifest15

Digifest 2015Several members of the CRC staff attended the Jisc Digital Festival  this week.  Bill Hubbard spoke as part of the panel on Open Access: Jisc’s services to help you meet the funders’ requirements.   This session gave an overview of a key set of Jisc national services and initiatives that support institutions across the lifecycle of open access, from the submission of a paper to a journal, to its download and use, enabling universities both to support their authors and readers, and comply with relevant policies from research councils and others. Bill spoke about the benefits of the SHERPA Services, including the efficiency gains at sector level and he also discussed findings from the recent Jisc SHERPA Services Survey.

The #Digifest15 programme included a number of sessions on aspects of open access and research data; the Jisc Slideshare channel has been populated with presentations, slides and other resources from sessions have already been uploaded to the website, and recordings will be published shortly.

Jisc SHERPA Services Survey

In January Jisc invited members of UK-CORR (the professional organisation for UK open access repository administrators and managers) to contribute to a survey to better understand how people use SHERPA Services, how they can be developed in line with user needs, and to look at options for sustainability.  The results indicate that the Services are liked, needed and valued and the level of detail provided will help shape the future of SHERPA Services.  The CRC is very grateful to those members of UK-CORR who completed the survey.
